July, 2006 Dear Friend of Clermont: Have you been hearing or reading about the big news out of your old hometown? If you haven’t, we’d like to fill you in. Last September, the City of Clermont applied for a $350,000 Community Attractions and Tourism Grant to help with financing three projects – renovation of the Opera House, the River Park, and a streetscape project to improve the business district. In April, Clermont was awarded a CAT Grant of $225,000 – more than half of the requested amount and almost 35% of the total project cost of $650,000. Typical CAT Grant awards are 20% of the project so the award given to Clermont is one of the highest CAT awards ever given! There’s always a catch though, and the condition was placed on the award that Clermont had to raise the difference or $100,000. So a committee was formed and fund raising efforts began in earnest. The response has been wonderful and we are nearly at our goal. The City is working on it’s financing for the balance of the project costs and we are anxious to wrap up our work and head into the design and construction phases. These are exciting times for Clermont! We know that many people like you; look fondly back to their Clermont days. Please help us push the fundraising over the top. Support from folks like you who name Clermont as their hometown could do just that. We encourage you to read about the details of the projects we are undertaking. Be sure to watch the news for our progress and be sure to come home and see us and the progress in your old hometown soon.
