BACK READS:  Power Plant.  Electricity, the greatest invention, was introduced to Clermont by harnessing the power of the Turkey River.  Christian Miller and Son's, C.C. and J.F. purchased the old Mill and Power site from former Governor William Larrabee in 1910.  Soon after, a concrete dam was constructed and electrical generating machinery installed.  The town of Clermont was supplied with electric lights.  Next, a transmission line to Elgin, supplied them also.
