******************************************************************************
The annual Turkey River Run is being planned for September 29, 2007 to coincide with the traditional Fall Foliage
activities. The Turkey River Run is the brainchild of Lowell Lyngaas
whose cross-country runners frequently use the route for the run. This
is not the typical road run – it will involve getting wet, dirty and maybe a
little scratched up but will yield spectacular views of the Turkey River
valley in the fall and is always lots of fun.
More information is available by calling Maureen
Johnson at 563-423-5000 or look for posters in local businesses.
Date & Time: Saturday, September 29, 2007
Starting time 9:00 a.m. (Registration 8:00 – 8:30 a.m.)
Location: Registration located at Quarry
Lodge, Clermont, IA Transportation will be provided to race
starting location. (Gilbertson Park, Elgin, IA)
Distance: Not easy to measure it so we
can't really be exact. (Probably about as long as previous years.)
We try to make it about 5 miles.
Type of Race: As is our tradition, this is
real cross-country running with breath-taking views of the Turkey River
Valley. Be Warned: You will get wet and dirty; you may
get scratches; you will have to climb; slide down on fallen leaves;
negotiate fences, culverts, ditches, and we are not sure what all else.
But as with the last two years, we promise it will be crazy enough to put a
smile on your face.
Awards: Given to first place runners in
each age category.
T-Shirts: Given to the first 75
participants to register (includes pre-registrations.)
Entry Fee: Pre-registration: $12.00
for adults, $10.00 for children under age 14. Race Day registration:
$15.00 for adults, $12.00 for children under age 14. No refund of
entry fees paid in advance.
Proceeds to Rivers Hills & Prairies Trail Foundation
to be used for recreational trail construction in northeast Iowa.
